Yes, this is advised so that when there is a nice balance of participants I will notify you of the upcoming date to begin the Teacher Training. Please call and leave your name and how to contact you. Yes, Certified professional dance instructors are in demand all over North America and abroad. Starting your own studio requires capital and patience and is not for everyone. There are positions posted in various dance publications and websites. With the right resume and direction you can find a rewarding career. Since the 10 Day Intensive requires you to be experienced and/or have a teaching background, it is suggested that you take or have had private lessons OR take or have had a number of the social group sessions before qualifying for the training. Yes, following are 3 options.
- Take the 10 Day Intensive Session as outlined on the website and brochure.
- Taking private lessons is how I earned my certification. For personal attention and a fast track to your goal, there is no better way to go. The cost is higher, however the sooner you start working, the sooner you can recover your expenses. (Refer to menu for Private Lesson fees.)
- I suggest participating in the Social Dance classes as a lead and/or a follow. This is an affordable and informal way to learn the American Rhythm Syllabus. The social dance classes are taught the same syllabus as the teacher training program, therefore the interested student has a head start introduction to the syllabus and can practice the lead and the follow with some of the other teacher trainees. The teacher training course is very challenging for even the seasoned professional. Dancing a figure and teaching that figure are two different things that require a language and a theory that requires hard work to accomplish. Of course, if you love dancing and helping people achieve their goals, it’s worth it.
NOTE: Sessions are ongoing, therefore check the Teacher Training portion on website for the next session.
