Teacher Training

Becoming a ballroom dance instructor is a career option for anyone. The only requirement is a desire to learn, a love of dance, and a love of helping others. This vocational course is the first of its kind in Canada.  Homework assignments will be given to keep you moving effectively through the course.

The greatest accomplishment a dance teacher can achieve is obtaining a professional certification. That is why this course is designed to prepare you to take the professional DVIDA (Dance Vision International Dancers Association) Associate Exam, recognized by the National Dance Council of America as a syllabus and methodology of the highest standards. You will learn everything necessary to take and pass this exam with confidence. Once you have your certification, you will be very employable and will have the option to work for a dance studio or start your own independent business. Examination arrangements will be made for you, and administered by guest DVIDA National Examiner, Diane Jarmolow, from California.

This course involves a 10-Day Intensive Session, at the end of which you will have learned the theory and practical as leader and follower. Examinations are available at the end of your particular session upon your request. Your ability will determine your certificaiton after the examination and is not guarateed.

YOU WILL LEARN

  • To dance syllabus patterns of 8 dance styles(54 patterns) as leader and follower with a partner
  • The technical elements for each dance (Theory)
  • How to start a class to music, teach a dance frame, teach Cuban motion, teach private and group classes, plus... everything you need to be prepared for your certification exam.
